Children with nightmares? This is how you can help

traumfaengerChildren dream much more intensivesly than adults and have more nightmares. In addition to this, children under the age of six often have difficulty in differentiating between dreams and reality. This can prove to be quite a burden for youngsters. What could you do to help children who suffer from nightmares?

It is important to heed the feelings that children have and not to treat bad dreams as something trivial. If, for example, a child has dreamt of monsters under the bed, it is better to check beneath the bed, together with the child, in order to prove that there are no hidden monsters rather than to merely say there are no monsters.

It can also be a great help to children to give a teddy-bear the job of keeping watch to ensure all monsters and bad dreams are banished.
