A perky, healthy start to the holidays
The start to your holidays can often be anything but relaxing, because just before you set off you still have a lot of things to sort out. Sounds familiar? In order to avoid such scenarios you should allow yourself time for the start of the holidays.
At work there are still all sorts of meetings planned; at home the neighbour still has to be told about watering the flowers and taking in the post, and the suitcases have not been packed yet either. Finally, late at night, you fall into bed exhausted only to get perhaps three or four hours’ sleep because you are anxious to begin the long journey at night in order to avoid any possible traffic jams.
It is no wonder that there are far more accidents due to holiday traffic and heat in the summer than in the colder times of the year. In the worst cases you get the so-called microsleep that can have devastating consequences.
Our suggestion: It is much better to set off on holiday a day later and therefore rested rather than wanting to start the journey on the very first day at any cost. Should you then still get tired on the way, allow yourself a little break now and then. A good guide is a least ten minutes every two hours. Even a little nap is in no way a bad thing; rather, it keeps you alert and helps you to concentrate.
